Camera Shy?

Danny has lately become a little annoyed with my obsessive picture taking and sometimes outright refuses to look at the camera. The vain little bugger, however, LOVES to look back through pictures of himself. It's a two-way street buddy.

Aunt Ali, Play!

Ali came for a visit this past weekend to celebrate her birthday (last Tuesday). Her best present? A doting Danny. He's pretty much obsessed with his Aunt Ali, particularly the way she makes his trucks and cars talk and her willingness to chase and constantly find him when he goes "missing".

Plus, lots of beach/pool time, home cooked seafood dinner and this fresh strawberry cake. Frosting was yummy, but the cake was a little dense and dry. So pretty and summery looking though, so I'll have to try it again!

A Boy and His Books

Like a lot of kids (and adults too), Danny has a favorite theme of books - anything cars, trucks, construction equipment, etc. He loves, loves, loves finding Goldbug and pointing out all the "happenings" in Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things that Go. If he ever sneaks off on his own, it's to read or play with his cars. Lucky for him, I also love to read and greatly enjoy checking out a backbreaking load of new books at the library each week. Love my little book worm!

Grandma and Grandpa Ron were also in our neck of the woods recently, so we made it a special day trip to go over to St. James on the ferry to swim in their awesome salt water pool!

And then later in the week, Grandma and Grandpa drove up to Wilmington to meet us for dinner downtown and then finally stayed with us in Carolina Beach for a night + a beach day. As usual, Danny was spoiled with love and new goodies and it was so great to catch-up!

O'Connor Beach Week...Carolina Beach Style!

This summer, Carolina Beach was the host city for the annual O'Connor beach week and we, of course, painted the town red. Just kidding. There were six little kids and two pregnant ladies, so shenanigans were at an all time low. There was, however, some fishing on Jimmy's boat, golfing, cigar smoking, a bunch of cold ones, a couple trips to the Tiki Bar and lots and lots of beach time and good eats.
