Googles

Silly Crew sporting Danny's swim googles again the other day. What can I say, the boy loves to play up the camera!

Brotherly Love

The sweetest moment of every day is when Danny and Crew first see each other in the morning. They've had a nights sleep to forget that they annoy one another and want to play with the same toys. They're generally sleepy and cuddly. Anyways, they always light up and make a point to say "hi" and hug. Throughout the day, they have their moments too, like these...

Random Doings

Looking through the old camera roll and found some pics I didn't want to forget to share. You know for "record keeping" purposes.

Wedding Slideshow Material

Both boys seemed really interested in wearing Jimmy and I's sunglasses, but of course they were way too big, so one day we took the trusty golf cart to one of our local Wings in search of cheap kids sunglasses. What we found are hideously rad and the pictures that followed just scream wedding slideshow material to me - awesome, but embarrassing shots of Danny and Crew trying to act cool at such young ages. All I can say to Danny is - WORK IT!

New Old Camera

At Danny's 3rd birthday party over 1 year ago I broke the lens on our Nikon DSLR camera. Sadly, I just got it together a month ago or so to get it fixed. But luckily iPhone's take nice enough pictures that I haven't missed any precious moments with our boys in the meantime. Still, it's great to have it back! Here's some of my first shots with the new old camera.

Crew pre-first haircut. Miss that little mullet already! Can't handle the cuteness.

IKEA and Father's Day

Between third trimester nesting and a general desire to decorate/do some things around the house, we've been on a tear as of a late. One of the projects is getting the boys' rooms ready - updating to shared for Danny and Crew and a new nursery for the baby. Oh and I'm really into organizing and getting ready for accommodating another being in our house! So...we decide to make a quick, impromptu trip to Charlotte so we could hit up IKEA. But to make it more special for all, we first made a detour to the NC Zoo in Asheville!

IKEA was a nightmare with both boys, lots of walking for a very preggo me and trying to nail everything we wanted to get. There's a joke about married couples going to IKEA and leaving divorced. It's not funny. In the end though, it was successful and we're now in full furniture building and redecorating mode. Pics to come on the finished product!

Someone was excited about waking up in a hotel

We ended the weekend celebrating Father's Day in the best way we know how...at the beach! I said this in my card to Jimmy, but it's true, I love the way the boys light up when they see him. It's like he walks on water. Their real life superhero. Our family is so lucky to have you!

Crew's a Character

Being a parent is such a bittersweet mix of emotions. Thinking so longingly to when your kids were younger, loving the little people they are now and looking so forward to the future - all these feelings simultaneously is craziness! That said, I just can't get enough of the character Crew has become. I've mentioned this before, but he loves hats, glasses, etc. He's extremely defiant, but a lot of the time it's pretty cute. His latest is whenever you ask him to do something he doesn't want to do, e.g. go to bed, get his diaper changed, etc, he drops to his belly on the floor and says, "I sim" (swim) as he pretends to paddle in water. Like maybe if I look occupied, she'll let it go. Silly Crew. He also likes to point and ask, "what's that?" and then when you tell him, he just says "no". He says "no" to most everything, but can't pronounce "yes" yet so instead he just nods with his whole body when he's in agreement. Let's see, what else...

He's obsessed with bugs. Points to crumbs and other non-bugs on the floor and ground and says, "see bug"...about a 100 times a day. Recognizes lots of different objects and animals in books and says both "hi" and "bye" before we turn the pages. Yells "Daannnny" when his big brother picks on him, but, let's face it, it's the other way around most of the time. Crew tackles and double-legs Danny multiple times a day - definitely stands up for himself. Other cute things he says and does:
  • Pointing out daddy's, mama's, Nana's, Papa's different "trucks" (his generic term for a car), but it sounds more like "schmuck" starting with an "s".
  • Recognizes when there is more than 1 of something, could be 2 or 40, and says, e.g. "two weeshes" (translation: two fishes)
  • Breaks out his signature move, the wrist twist, whenever music comes on and says "I dance"
  • He's really into hiding and peek-a-boo and likes to say "see me" before he reveals himself
  • Calls his lovie that he sleeps with "baby"
  • Likes being chased and motions with his hands like "I'm going to get you" to entice you to come after him
If I could bottle you up, Crew, I would. Love you to the moon and back!
