Great Florida Weekend

Well Jimmy and I are home again after a wonderful, long weekend in Naples. We were nothing short of pampered, had lots of fun and even saw a big, ten foot alligator!

Thursday we left work at lunch to catch our flight and were in Naples in time for a great Italian dinner at a place called Pagelli's. You've got to like that! Friday we got up and got ready for a beach day. My grandparents' condo is in Pebble Creek, a community within Pelican Bay, which means the amenities and service are amazing. To get to the beach, you catch a tram that takes you along the berm where there are alligators and birds a plenty. Then the tram takes you on the boardwalk through the mangrove forest to the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. I'm ten years older than the first time I rode the tram to the Pelican Bay beach, but the fun of it has never waned!

Friday night my grandparents took us to see the famous Naples Pier and then we had dinner at a great place on the water called Riverside.

Lastly, Sunday was not the best beach day, but still fun nonetheless. We checked out another beach within Pelican Bay where Clam Pass connects the waterways to the Gulf. In the afternoon we went to see the movie "Date Night". I'm super lame and left my camera Sunday night when we went to downtown Naples for dinner at Tommy Bahamas. Old Naples reminds me of cross between Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and Main Street in Santa Monica, very classy with white lights in all the trees, lots of great shops. Dinner at Tommy Bahama's was amazing. Jimmy and I both had tuna that we honestly think may be the best tuna we've ever had. So bummed I don't have a picture of it to salivate over...

Thank you so much Grandma and Grandpa for such a wonderful weekend in Naples! Can't wait to get down there again next year!

Hello Vacation

Jimmy and I leave work tomorrow around lunch time to catch a flight to Naples, Florida to visit my grandparents and we can not wait! We haven't seen my grandparents since the holidays and there's always so much hustle and bustle then. We're very much looking forward to some quality with them. Plus, they know how to show their guests a good time, let me tell you. Memories of annual Summer visits from my childhood are coming back to me. White sand and warm water, here we come! See you soon, Grandma and Grandpa!

first slot red fish of the year

Yesterday, Mike and I ran down behind bald head island and fished the creeks. We timed the tide right and wound up with 12 reds! They have to be between 18-27" to keep- my last fish of the afternoon was a 23" "slot" red! Needless to say, Kaylie and I had a great dinner...

Very Fun Weekend

Jimmy and I had a wonderful Easter weekend! The weather was in high 70s and our little town of Carolina Beach was bustling like we haven't seen since last Summer. Friday we went to Fort Fisher with Malloy for the day (see Jimmy's earlier post). It was so peaceful and quiet. I seriously love nothing more than reading a book at the beach.

Saturday I went to the beach while Jimmy did some things around the house. While running a quick errand in the afternoon I heard on the radio that a pseudo new restaurant and tiki bar in Carolina Beach called the Sea Witch was having live music that night. Could it be? Another tiki bar in Carolina Beach?!? Too good to be true. Turns out this place used to be the hangout until it closed in 2007. Newly reopened just a couple weeks ago, this place is sure to be hoppin' in the Summer. It's basically all decks, with an outdoor fireplace and a great stage for bands. Pretty cool...

Sunday I spent yet another day at the beach. So relaxing. Meanwhile, Jimmy was out fishing with Mike. Below is some of the scenery Jimmy took in on his excursion and a pic of one of the "short" red fish he caught. Reds are a slot fish, meaning they have to be between 17-27" to keep.  No keepers today, the boys were a little late on the push from low-high tide.  All in all, such a great weekend. Life does not get better than this...

This Woman Can Cook a Pork Butt!

I recommend...Kaylie Ann took a $10 piece of meat and created a $100 entree...respect.
