Crew at 12 Month (Stats)

Crew had his 12 month well check-up on Monday and I was so happy to see he's up to 17th percentile in weight. He's still a little bean pole, but it's much better than the single digits he was before.

I got sick of trying to chase him from one side of the doctor's table to the next so I let him play on the floor. So sue me. And, of course, he went right for the cabinets.

Danny's 3s School Pics

Here are Danny's pictures from his 3s classroom at St. James Day School. In case you haven't noticed in other recent posts, Danny is rocking a pretty goofy, cheesy smile these days. Oh and he talks about Catherine a lot (seated behind him).

Momma and Me

It's not every day that your baby turns a year old, so I made Jimmy take some pics of Crew and I together on his birthday. He's such a snuggler sometimes and gives the best open mouth kisses around! Note the last picture where he's actually trying to eat me instead...

Happy 1st Birthday Crew!

Crewberry, Crewton, Crew-de-loop, Crew-tang, he's a baby of many names and today (as of 4:06am) he's 1 year old! As a second child, I feel like you either cower to your older sibling a little or you give them a run for their money, and Crew definitely does the latter. He's a pistol. He knows what he wants (and doesn't want) and boy does he let you know. He goes, goes, goes all the time. But he also adores his big brother like none other, lights up and yells "dada" like a caveman whenever Jimmy enters the room and is still so attached to me you'd think there was an umbilical cord there!

He's jabbering like crazy and has taken up to 7-8 steps, with multiple instances of 2-3, but not full on walking yet. He's extremely fast at crawling and using his little walker (see video below). Likes baths. Dislikes riding in the car. Eats (solids) like a little piggy. Hoping to wean him from nursing soon - just still seems so attached to the ritual. Unlike Danny who just decided to watch Mickey one morning instead and never looked back. Fights going down for most every nap - insists on giggling and kissing (slobbering) me on the neck instead until he finally gives in and then sleeps like the dead. Likes to offer bites of food to you and hold up different objects - almost asking with his motions and babble - "what is this?" Hates diaper changes and getting dressed.

Let's see what else? He has 2 BIG teeth up top (with a 3rd breaking through right now) and 3 on the bottom. We go on Monday for his 1-year well check, so I'll have more to report re: his stats then. By my calculations though, he's a little squirt but absolutely perfect.

Happy, happy Birthday to our little Crew. We love you!

And thanks to our friends Chad and Lindsay for coming over for the festivities!

Play Time

Crew LOVES playing in our bathroom and taking everything out of drawers. He was getting into the cabinets too until we rigged them shut with hair ties. He's just in his diaper because he sucks to dress. Squirms and freaks out, so when I'm feeling lazy, I just let him go nakey.

Loves this walker from Grandma - cruises ALL over!

Chili Cookoff

So like I said, we got up early in the mountains on Sunday and high-tailed it back to Wilmington, only briefly stopping to drop off Ali and Colin in Chapel Hill, and then again when I thought Danny might barf - luckily it was only a false alarm. Anyways, we met Jimmy at his buddy Jake's where they were having a chili cookoff to celebrate their son AJ's 2nd birthday. There were A LOT of yard toys and a bounce house (not pictured) - both boys were happy, happy, happy!

Mountain Weekend

Even though it's been such a crazy 2 months or so, I still really wanted to take the kids up to the mountains to see the leaves and feel the cooler temps - get us in the fall spirit! So I picked up Ali and Colin and we headed up for a quick weekend at my Dad's. Though it was cold for us beach folks, it wasn't nearly as cold as predicted, so we got outside for the Woolly Worm Festival in Banner Elk and then some Frisbeer in the backyard. And then we got up early Sunday AM to make it back to Wilmington for little kid's bday party. Thanks to Dad and Beth for the hospitality - it was a blast!
