Carolina Beach iPad

Jimmy and I are so up with the times that we already have an Apple iPad.

I kid, I kid. We only wish. Can't believe my IBM Thinkpad from Freshman year of college is still kickin'. In all seriousness though, we're soon-to-be iPad owners. All we do with our computer at night is search the internet, download pics and do a blog post or two. Stay tuned...

New Living Room Accessory

I am admittedly a huge dork, but I am super excited about our new rug for the living room. It's a wool, soumak rug from a company called Masland. We were looking for something that was kind of rustic and beachy like our jute rugs, but that had some color and design too. I think we achieved what we were looking for with the faded wool look. Now whether the turquoise end tables and coffee table work with it????

Fun Weekend & Paint Updates

We had a nice relaxing weekend. Jimmy went fishing with Mike all day Saturday, intensifying his desire for us to get a boat of our own. Some day for sure. I stayed home and just chilled with Malloy...

Saturday night we went with Brittany and Mike to Adam's funny hat birthday party. I was too distracted by the bazillion work people there and I promised Jimmy I wouldn't post a picture of him in his hat for the night, so I don't have much to show for it. Here's the birthday boy hamming it up for the camera...

Lastly, here's some before and after pictures of two of the rooms we had Kevin help us paint during his stay. I'll post pictures of our revamped bedroom once I complete the curtains.

I'm happy with the end results. In the guest bath we just wanted a super light, almost white white. In our bathroom, I was trying to recreate a classy, cornflower blue that I had seen in Coastal Living. Much to Jimmy's disappointment, the color can look more purple than blue in some light, but I still think it's pretty against all the white.

Bon Voyage!

To those of you I have spoken to recently, Jimmy and I have been hosting Kevin for the last couple weeks as he briefly entertained the idea of getting a job and living in Wilmington for a little while. After much soul searching and helping us paint 4 rooms in our house, he's decided to try out the Virgin Islands instead. What white sand beaches, warm weather, crystal clear waters and the absence of manual labor have on shacking up with us in Wilmington, I just don't know. Anyways, we wish him the best of luck and much happiness in his journey. Hopefully, he's there long enough for us to save up enough money to visit!

Belated Happy New Year!

Happy 2010 everyone! Jimmy and I were lucky to have the company of Kevin and Stefanie for the New Year. We had dinner and champagne at the house and then went out to the local Carolina Beach bars until just after the ball drop - literally a lit up beach ball and fire truck ladder contraption set up in the middle of CB.

Did anyone see the blue moon? Maybe I had too many of these, but I didn't notice anything different...

I for one am very excited for 2010. We've got some excited weddings coming up for some people we love a lot - Kelly and Spencer & Erin & Eli. Very much looking forward to going to New Orleans in February for Kelly's bachelorette weekend and Maryland for her shower in March. Also can't wait for a great summer of hopefully lots of visitors, good weather and many days on the beach.

In other news, I'm happy to say our family friend, little Owen Miller, has recovered well from a surgery to remove a malignant brain tumor they found on Christmas Day. O is such a fighter! Next up is chemo and radiation. Thinking about him all the time. Below O is pictured with his adorable sis Lena when they dropped into my bridal shower in Boone to meet up with their mom, Janet. Too cute for words.
