Danny Turns 6

May 20th marked Danny's 6th year on this green earth! His sassiness is at an all-time high, but so is his creativity and curiosity, so we take good with the bad! He's really grown so much in the last year and we're so proud of the person he's becoming!

To kick off his celebration, I brought cupcakes to his classroom on the Friday before. Note: Danny was in desperate need of haircut, so we went later than evening...

Picking up the cupcakes at Publix

And then on Saturday we met family at the local Mexican restaurant (Danny's pic) and then spent the evening at the arcade with his best buddy, Salvatore. But first, I had to capture some pics of all the boys and one with me on this yearly milestone.

Styling and profiling
More clean cut now
A little Bingo Zingo

Now onto the evening...

Loving his Land Rover hat from Aunt Kelly
And his Michael Jackson jacket from Nana

Last, but not least, on Sunday (his actual bday), we had a great walk to the Tiki Bar for dinner!

Happy, happy Birthday, Danny! We love you so much!

Danny's First Research Project

Danny recently conducted his first research project (in kindergarten no less) and it was such a neat experience. He had to randomly draw the name of an ocean creature and he got "lobsters"! Then for the next couple weeks his teachers and volunteers, like myself, would take turns reading each student books and they had to fill out reports about facts, etc. As a fun twist, Jimmy and I decided to take Danny on a special date just the three of us to Fish Bites for their lobster special night. He and I got their early and while posing next to the live tank one the waitresses asked if he wanted to hold one! He refused to try the cooked lobster (which meant more for me), but he had shrimp that he loved instead!

Lastly, they had to create a 3D representation of their creature and present their findings "science fair" style to parents and their peers. Crew and Kingston are out of preschool now, so they were in tow as well. Thank the lord for Pinterest! After we completed this thing, Danny pointed out that lobsters are only red when cooked (duh mom), but alas I found a couple varieties that are red/orange when alive, so we still good.

Mother's Day Weekend

Next up was Mother's Day weekend! Jimmy was great about doting on me (and Nana) and the boys were more into it this year than they've ever been! I was woken up Saturday to "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!" in my ears and a plant that Danny had grown in kindergarten. That afternoon we went over to Nana's for our first swim of the season (the boys, not me) and Jimmy ordered us dinner, so we could dine al fresco without cooking!

Sunday morning, actual Mother's Day, we went to Kate Pancake's house for breakfast and then hit up the beach! And then while the boys were napping, I went to meet Nana for some sunshine and live music and Jerry bought us flowers! Last, but not least, we walked to the Tiki Bar for dinner!

Pre-breakfast
Danny refused to cooperate
In less upbeat news, I had to have a skin excision on my back for a pre-melanoma scare. I was suppose to take it easy for 2 weeks and this was me the day after - basically a human pillow. Tis' motherhood.

Celebrating Baby G

Had such a great weekend in Chapel Hill celebrating baby girl Gualtieri! It was a scramble, but the shower went off without a hitch. The flowers alone were just perfect. And had so much fun getting to see Ali's girlfriends - they're a hoot! Alex is only a couple weeks away from her due date and I'm just so excited to be an aunt to my first niece! She's going to make the best mommy!
