School Days

I'm not sure the last time I gave an update on the boys' "schooling", but they just finished out the school year last week and did great!

Crew went from being distraught when I left him and a little weepy throughout the morning to being the "class clown" per his teachers. Looking in the window into his classroom before pick-up, I'd see him happily doing ring-around-the-rosie and sitting on the storytime rug listening to Mrs. Thomas' animated renditions! Because of his birthdate and estimated kindergarten start year (sniff, sniff), he'll repeat in the same toddler class next year. Which is great because he - and we - already loves those teachers.

Danny randomly regressed to be being weepy at drop-off again, saying he didn't want to leave me, but his teachers assured me that he was happy and having fun the second he got to his classroom. And he's definitely found his clique - Myles, Michael and Mason. Talks about these boys and their truck-playing antics all the time. So sweet because Myles actually came all the way from Leland to watch Danny play tball the other night. Best buds. And we have absolutely loved Danny's teachers this year as well. Fours class in the fall or bust!

Brothers

On April 1st, we found out that #3 is a HE! And I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't disappointed. In my mind, I always thought I would have 3 children. So by having 3 boys, that by default meant that I would never have a daughter. Enter crushing blow. And nothing anyone said could make me feel any better. But after reading some "support" blogs for moms of all boys, I was able to better process my emotions and make myself feel better. Pretty empowering. Here's the thing. As a mom of two boys, I already know firsthand the pros of having boys - their special love of their mama, their spunk, their curiosity, their resilience. And the bond between brothers, just can't be beat. I mean come on...

But loving my boys and being excited about adding another one to the mix was never the problem. It was about the "loss" of a daughter and the positive of the one doesn't necessarily replace the negative of the other. They're separate emotions. So here's where I'm at today. I am 100% excited about the baby boy that will be here in 3 months or so. Woo hoo! But we're also keeping on the table the possibility of trying for a fourth and obviously hoping it would be a girl...but it could just as easily be another boy. And four kids - regardless of gender - is a pretty big family! As a planner, it kills me to not know for sure what we want to do yet, so at this point I'm just waiting for a sign. Either I was meant to be a mom of all boys or there will someday be a mini me  - only time will tell and either way, we're very fortunate for our family. Until then, it's all about the "brothers" in our household.

Tball Update

I've already posted the pre-tball season pics of Danny gearing up with his book from Grandma and his trial runs with daddy at the field. Here's his first official practice on team Doctor Tyson and Doctor Heaney or "Doctor Doctor"! Initially, it was hard getting him to cooperate and we were a little worried it was a lost cause like soccer was as a rising 3 year old. And Crew just wants in on the action making it hard to juggle both of them at the field!

But come the first game, it just clicked and he got into it! Not saying we don't have to reel him in from time to time, but he's definitely a participating player! His first time in the outfield during a game he turned his hat around backwards and leaned down with his elbows on his knees like a pro all on his own. It was adorable!

Easter 2016

Almost 2 months late, but here's a recap on Easter with the boys! First up was a party at school for Danny where he famously said in the car on the way home, "I wonder what's in this egg? I hope it's sugar. I like sugar." Needless to say, he was INTO all the candy associated with Easter.

And then it was an Easter egg hunt at Halyburton Park where Danny found the golden egg for a special prize, a book all about snakes! Crew found one egg filled with a piece of chocolate and was just as happy.

And then it was the main event - finding their Easter baskets! I failed to get a picture of them with said Easter baskets and the videos were anti-climatic, but it was fun...trust me! We had a little dinner get-together as well, but I didn't get any pictures :(

Loving their bunnies from Nana...

We also had a birthday party the following weekend that had a massive Easter egg hunt as an activity. Phew, it was a busy, but totally awesome Easter 2016!
