Grandma and Grandpa Ron were also in our neck of the woods recently, so we made it a special day trip to go over to St. James on the ferry to swim in their awesome salt water pool!

And then later in the week, Grandma and Grandpa drove up to Wilmington to meet us for dinner downtown and then finally stayed with us in Carolina Beach for a night + a beach day. As usual, Danny was spoiled with love and new goodies and it was so great to catch-up!

O'Connor Beach Week...Carolina Beach Style!

This summer, Carolina Beach was the host city for the annual O'Connor beach week and we, of course, painted the town red. Just kidding. There were six little kids and two pregnant ladies, so shenanigans were at an all time low. There was, however, some fishing on Jimmy's boat, golfing, cigar smoking, a bunch of cold ones, a couple trips to the Tiki Bar and lots and lots of beach time and good eats.

World's Coolest Hair and Date with the Huesdash Family

I know I've said it before, but Danny has the coolest hair! I've since cut it again (sigh) because it tends to get in his eyes, but I just love when it does the "flock of seagulls".

Anyways, moving on, next up for us was our annual visit from the Huesdash family (sans the newest addition, Hunter). Danny happily shared his toys with twins, Jack and Clara, and then showed them a good time at the Tiki Bar for dinner.

Adventures in Potty Training

It's been so long since I last posted, that I don't even know where to begin! We've been a busy bunch! Chronologically, the first up after Father's Day was potty training Danny and, per usual, he has amazed me! I bought a potty from Amazon on a Wednesday and he was fully trained by the end of the weekend. We swapped diapers for Mickey and Thomas the Train undies cold turkey, bribed with jelly beans the first couple days and insisted he try to go every 20-30 mins. He had a couple accidents the first two days, and a couple random ones since then, but otherwise he's all in.

Reading material. Check.

Matchbox cars. Check.

He likes to describe the size of his "jobs", i.e. little pee or big poop. Cute? Gross? You decide. And mid session likes to review his progress and provide his own words of encouragement - "good job" and "I so proud of you". Going while out in public is the only challenging part, as he's sometimes too distracted or excited to want to go, but once he agrees to sit on the big boy pot, we're good to go. Oh and my feet were firehosed when we pushed him a little too long one time. Good times!
