Danny at 5 Months

Danny is such a bundle of 5 month old energy. I'm sure I've said this every month, but he's truly in such a fun stage. He's started to really like playing with his toys and reading books. He won't stay in one position for more than a few seconds. He's back-to-belly, belly-to-back, repeat. He LOVES his mommy and daddy, grins and giggles when he sees us. We continue to be amazed at how fast he's growing. He's such a sweet little boy. We love him exponentially more every day. Happy 5 months Danny boy!
1, 3 and 5 month comparison
Weight: 15.6 lbs

Likes: Rolling!, his grandparents, aunts and uncles, sucking on his toes, jabbering, taking walks, his toys, watching mommy bake and cook, reading books, baths

Dislikes: When mommy walks away, being awake past his bedtime, not sure about kisses from Malloy, sudden, loud noises

Sleeping: Unfortunately, most nights Danny sleeps like a newborn, waking every couple hours. Then there are some nights where he sleeps ALL night and then there are those nights where he just wakes once. His signature move, however, is still waking in the 4 o'clock hour...for the day. I can't say that Danny is an unusually bad sleeper, but I definitely can't say he's a good one either. As he approaches the 6 month mark, I'll probably resort to a little cry-it-out, starting with his first night waking. While he eats good when he gets up, I know he can't be that hungry that he needs food every two hours all night.  He's just being a stinker and wants to play. On a more positive note, he is going down for naps and night time a little better - definitely fighting it less. Speaking of naps, Danny still doesn't so much "care" for them, which can make working during the day a little challenging. I'm thinking he's going to be one of those babies that doesn't need a lot of sleep during the day, but I'm hoping he starts napping just a little longer as he gets older.

Eating: Still hard to get the boy to nurse very long during the day - too much fun stuff to do, mom - but he seems to be getting plenty. That and the fact that he's eating rice cereal before bed. Let's just say, he's not going hungry! Starting next week, I'm going to give him some rice cereal for breakfast too and then when he gets "good" at that I'll introduce his first vegetable. The little piggy still gets his food everywhere - from the top of his head to the tips of his toes!
