Awkward
I don't do a post in over a week and here I go posting twice in 10 minutes. Anyways, just had to comment on how incredibly awkward I find this musical Grey's Anatomy. The amount of time this will stay on our TV when Jimmy gets home from class in a few minutes? Five seconds tops.
Adventures in Interior Decorating...
...someone else's place. Sorry for the blog "abandonment" as Shiva called it. I've been busy working and helping my mom settle in. One thing I've very much enjoyed over the last couple weeks is putting together some inspiration boards for my mom and I to use as we decorate her beach condo. Here's what I've been thinking and, in some cases, the finished product.
Don't judge my "eye" - I've had to work my mom's Boone furniture into the beach theme, ie. the black rod iron patio table, yellow-green leather couch in the living room, etc. Don't worry, I'm not quitting my day job anytime soon...

GUEST ROOM - still going to make a decorative tray and add a lime blanket to the foot of the bed.

Ahhh the pictures of the guest bath and bedroom don't do it justice - especially the night one of the bedroom. It really does look cute. Anyways, happy little Friday everyone!

Lotide
I really, really wanted to do the Charleston Cooper Bridge Run on April 2nd with my sister, but it doesn't look like it's going to work out. So... I decided to do a local, and I do mean local, run yesterday instead. See map below - I live right behind the lake, so I literally ran around my house a couple times. And Ali and I are going to find another run to do together later in the spring/summer too!
Anyways, the run I did was the Annual Steve Haydu St. Patty's Day Lotide 10K. Up until about 30 mins before the race, I thought a 10K was around 5 miles, a distance I run maybe once a week. Luckily Jimmy googled the distance and helped me get in a 6.2 mile frame of mind before the race started.
I finished - not at an impressive place or with impressive timing - but I finished and felt great doing it - 96th of 208 at 56:27. Before you make fun - I don't competitively run. And I only got beat by a few people my parents age.
Now to clean, get ready for the work week and help my mom organize her new place. Check out the ocean views from her deck...

Happy St. Patty's Day
Hope everyone is having a great day! As much as I love my Irish-by marriage heritage, I've done a really lame job at celebrating the holiday this year. The most Irish thing I did today was wake up next to my Irish husband this morning. I forgot to wear green. I did not participate in Baked Potato Day at work. We decided against beer, which I would have promptly dyed green, to avoid the empty calories.
Reminiscing about my initiation into the O'Connor clan, Jimmy and I's wedding, and especially my father-in-law's toast at our rehearsal dinner, however, puts it all in perspective. He said...
May God be with you and bless you.
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.
And so I have...

HENRY!
Lindsey and Nick were waiting to be surprised about the sex of their baby and I, along with the vast majority of Lindsey's friends and family, was right - baby V's a boy!
Lindsey delivered Henry Nicholas Viens at 2:28 this morning. He was 10lbs 4oz and 22.5 inches long. Mom and baby are both healthy and happy. Absolutely the most precious little baby boy on this planet. I couldn't be more thrilled for Lindsey and Nick!

Honeymoon Breakfast
This bread recipe just reminded me of the great coconut bread we were served for breakfast on our boat trip from St. John to Jost Van Dyke on our honeymoon. What fun and what deliciousness. I must make it soon!

Baby Long
Kelly has finally told all her friends and family, so I can post the news to my blog readers! Kelly and Spencer are expecting! Here's an 8 week picture of their little bundle of joy! Can't wait to be cool Aunt Kaylie!
Speaking of babies, Lindsey is due in a couple days. They're waiting to be surprised about the sex, so we've all had to wait as well. I'm so excited for them! I'm going to 100mph on I-40 to meet him/her as soon as Lindsey and Nick are ready for me!
